Setting Feature Permissions
How to allow settings needed for PLAD8 features.
My Settings page says "Notification Permission is Denied". How do I allow notifications from PLAD8?
Many browsers automatically reject requests for notifications from websites, because most of us don't want to get swamped with unnecessary notifications from every website we visit. However, if you want to get important notices from PLAD8 (such as someone liking you, matches, or new messages), you will want to allow them from www.plad8.com. You will need to reset and/or allow permissions in your browser AND in your operating system to receive any.
Allowing Notifications in Browser
Browsers are constantly changing, so you may need to search for the most updated instructions for your browser and operating system combination. Here's a recent guide that should work for most of the major web browsers:
Allowing Notifications in Operating System
In addition to allowing the browser to accept notifications from www.plad8.com, your operating system must also allow notifications from your web browser! Check the most recent documentation for the operating system of the device you are using. Here are a few links to guides for the most common operating systems:
- iOS - You must add www.plad8.com to your home screen to receive notifications. You may find more information in Apple Support. Here's a good starting point: Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
- Android - Change app permissions on your Android phone - Google Support
- MacOS - Customize website notifications in Safari on Mac - Apple Support
- Windows - App permissions - Microsoft Support
How do I enable location access?
It is usually simple to allow location access for a given website or domain. Apple device users please note that you must enable location sharing in both the operating system settings and the browser settings. Here are helpful links for the major web browsers:
- Chrome - Share your location
- Firefox - Does Firefox share my location with websites?
- Safari/MacOS - Allow apps to detect the location of your Mac
- Opera - Geolocation
Once you have enabled location access, it will update automatically when you sign in, or you can update it on your Edit Profile page.
